Kendra’s House Chicken 

This chicken is to die for and you will be craving it from this point forward every time you think of grilling or roasting chicken. In Spanish we call it pollo sobroso which literally means delicious chicken! Use in any recipe that calls for chopped or shredded chicken or just grill, broil or bake and serve it with your favorite side dishes. This also makes a delicious homemade grilled chicken sandwich that will have you competing with Chick-fil-a, so go ahead and save that money and make this instead. Serve on a toasted roll lightly smeared in garlic butter than mayo, crisp lettuce and juicy tomato and sliced onions and your all set for a wow luch with some fried potatoes or potato salad! Also great to make a grilled chicken or chicken Ceasar salad.

Cooks Notes: Sazon seasoning is a hispanic seasoning blend that is essential to this recipe, it takes basic seasoning salt up a notch and is filled with salt, garlic and a few other special seasonings. Try my homemade version found below or the Goya brand found in the hispanic section of most grocery stores.

Be sure to adjust cooking times depending on the part of the chicken you are using. My favorite to use is the chicken thigh, so incredibly juicy and flavorful!

Homemade Sazon seasoning

Sazon seasoning is to the hispanic culture what garam masala is to the Indian culture. It turns everything it touches to gold! Store in a ziplock bag, spice jar or mason jar and mix very well. Store in a dry area alongside your other spices. Taste great on chicken, pork or in Spanish rice.

Homemade Sazon Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon ground turmeric or achiote
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoons oregano

House Chicken Ingredients

Serves 6 to 8 pieces

  • 1 1/2 lbs chicken thighs, breast or tenderloins.
  • Sazon all-purpose seasoning salt to taste
  • 1/2 tablespoon onion powder or to taste
  • 1/2 tablespoon Italian seasoning or equal parts dried thyme & dried oregano


Season chicken well on both sides and grill in a large skillet greased lightly with olive oil on medium-high heat until browned on both sides.

Once browned, reduce heat to medium and add in a couple tablespoons of water and cover. Allow chicken to steam until it’s cooked through to an internal temperature of 165 degrees being sure to add more tablespoons of water as needed to insure chicken steams and doesn’t burn. Serve with your favorite dishes and enjoy!

    One thing I must say about your method of cooking is that you have a variety of seasoning which in my experience , is what can truly transform a dish! Tell me, do you purchase these seasoning premade or do you prepare them yourself?

    Yes! My preferred store brands are Goya & Badia but you can make My homemade Sazon in a jiffy and store it away for later use!😊
